Chelsea's mascot ran the London Marathon in furry suit
By Brooks Peck
Before Chelsea beat Stoke 7-0 on Sunday, the club's mascot ran the entire London Marathon. In costume.
While you'd probably assume that running 26.2 miles in a full mascot outfit would only be attempted by someone with a perverse desire to sweat to death, Stamford the Lion survived the marathon, presumably before complete dehydration set in. He completed it in six hours and 25 minutes, which surely depressed anyone who finished in six hours and 26 minutes without a thick suit of fur covering their entire body.
This wasn't just an attempt to torture a poor club employee, though. The stunt was all for a good cause, raising over £10,000 for the Help a London Child charity.
