Clever "Roadkill Raccoon" at an Iowa bicycle event

Seen in the Des Moines Register and referenced in the newsletter of the American Cycling Association is this article:

Rachel Garst of Coon Rapids sewed a raccoon costume out of fake fur, stood on Main Street and sold fake coonskin hats and tails to raise money for community projects.

Then she had a better idea.

“Business was getting a little slow, so I lay down like roadkill and people started laughing,” Garst said.

After that, other volunteers took turns in the costume, including Nancy Brutsche.

“People just love it,” she said. “The riders just love to have their picture taken with roadkill. A few even asked to take a photo with their bike rolling over the top."

This all happened during RAGBRAI, "[The Des Moines] Register's Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa</a>".
